A Multidisciplinary Approach to Pain Management
The Alabama Pain Center offers a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment and care of chronic pain patients. Three programs exist: Fast Track, Medical Management, Multi-Disciplinary Approach.
The Fast Track Program is for patients who require immediate diagnostic or therapeutic blocks. In most cases Fast Track patients can be seen in the procedure suite at Alabama Pain Center within two days of referral.
The Medical Management Program is for stable patients who only require medical management. The Medical Management Program often includes behavioral science classes that help patients better understand how to live successfully with a chronic pain condition.
The Multi-Disciplinary Approach is offered to patients with a history of chronic, uncontrolled pain. This program consists of the appropriate medical care including pain blocks and medication management, combined with physical therapy evaluations and treatment to help the patient strengthen and recondition their muscles. Finally, individual and group psychological counseling is provided to help patients learn how to cope more effectively with the emotional impact of chronic pain. The three components of the Multi-Disciplinary Approach complement and reinforce each other to promote remarkable and sustained outcomes.
The physicians and multi-disciplinary team work together to create the treatment plan that is best for each individual patient.
